Art Deco refers to an art movement involving a mix of modern decorative styles from the 1920's and 1930's. The style began with the 1925 Paris Exposition “Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industrials Modernes” and later became labeled Art Deco in the 1960’s. It celebrated the optimism of a newly emerging modern world. It is popularly considered to be a style of cool sophistication with streamlined motifs which were mass produced for a growing middle class.
