Lamp Shadesare satin hand-engraved, cut and polished shades The Astral lamp is derived from the Greek word astron, meaning star, and is so-named because of its analogy to the brightness of the stars. For it's day, this kerosene-burning lamp produced a most brilliant light. An Astral lamp is generally a tall single-standing lamp with a central circular reservoir for oil, conveyed to an Argand burner.
