Chandeliers and candelabras are the most common type of lighting that prolifically use
glass prisms, chain, and other baubles. Rock crystal is rare, so early crystal
lamps were a symbol of wealth. Making them more affordable became possible with the development of leaded glass in the late 1600's.
They became most popular in middle-class homes after World War II and now
continue to maintain their popularity and opulence in home décor today.
