The strongly emerging middle class in America during the post-war era created a demand for rich-looking objects de arte at a more affordable cost. New materials and production techniques developed during the war were now readily available for commercial use. Designers integrated modernistic design into household objects whenever possible. One of the natural results of all these forces coming together, were lamps which symbolized modernism and faith in science and technology.
