Different Types of Fabric Shade Fitters

  WASHER

• Shades with washer fitters are the most common type. They sit on top of a harp and are held in place by a finial which screws on top to hold them down.

• Diffuser shades also have a washer style fitter but they sit on top of a glass diffuser, rather than screw onto it.

    UNO

• An uno fitter is threaded so that it screws onto the bottom end of a socket.

• Bridge arm lamps are floor lamps and are the most common type of lamp that takes a shade with an uno fitter.

   CHIMNEY

• The large hole in the center of the shade slides down over the chimney and is held in place by the chimney's bulge.

• Oil lamps are the most common type of lamp that takes a shade with a chimney fitter.

CLIP

• These shades clip onto the top of the bulb and usually have a bottom (B) measurement of 10" or smaller.

• Candelabra and sconce shades are the most common types with clip fitters. They must be used with a torpedo style bulb in order to sit straight.
